The Odyssey Retold By Teilo Berquier

Peiraus

Young man from Ithaca's east shore. One of the few who still believed. Joined Telemachus's secret crew the night they sailed.

He is named in the brief gathering at dusk before the ship slips out into the dark. Young Peiraus from the east shore, who still believed. That is what we get. He is one of the crew Telemachus assembles without asking permission, the small loyal kernel on the island that has been waiting for the boy to do something. He stands at the water’s edge when the sail snaps full and Ithaca falls behind them. He is a name and an east-shore origin and a faith that the king’s son might still be the king’s son. The retelling does not need more from him.
